High Merits of Hazrat Imam Hussain
One day Omar sat surrounded by the Companions. Hussain was also present. Addressing the Companions, the Caliph said, “By Allah ! Whatever honour we may have in this world and in the world to come, is due to the grace of Allah and to the bounty of the Prophet and his family. But for this, we would have been without any hope.”
Once the son of Omar complaint to his father, “Hazrat Imam Hassan and Hosien said that I and my family is their slave.” On hearing this Hazrat Omar said, “ O my son! This is a great honour. I will be glade if they write it down on a piece of paper that I and my family is the slave of descendents of Holy Prophet.”

When it came to the fixation of stipends for the Muslims, Hassan and Husain, again, received special consideration from Omar. Those who had taken part in the battle of Badr were allowed two thousand dirhams, but those who showed outstanding valour in that battle got five thousand. Ali belonged to the latter category. Hasan and Husain also got five thousand each, although they were not even born at the time of this battle.
Once fine dresses were received from Yemen. Omar distributed them among the people. Soon people were going about in these dresses. Presently, Hassan and Husain passed by. They did not have the Yemeni dresses on. The tought made Omar very unhappy. “What a pity!” he exclaimed, “that these two boys who are responsible for giving people these fine dresses, should themselves be without them”.
Omar at once wrote to the Governor of the Yemen, asking him to send two dresses for the grandsons of the Prophet (PBUH). The order was carried out. When Omar saw the two boys clad in Yemeni dresses, he cried out, “Now I am really happy.”
When Iran was conquered, a princess, Shah Bano by name, was among the prisoners of war. She was among the prisoners of war. She was brought to Madina. The Caliph’s son expressed a desire to marry her. “How dare you make such a request?” exclaimed Omar. “She is a princess and can only be married to a prince.” Saying this, he called Husain and gave the princess to him.

Once rich booty came into the public treasury at Madina. Omar distributed it among the people. Hasan and Hussain got then thousand dirhams each. Omar’s own son, Abdullah, got much less. This seemed strange to Abdullah. He complained to his father, saying: “I am one of the early converts to Islam. I am also one of those who fled to Madina. How is it that these two youngsters have been rated higher than I?”
The reply of Omar to this query was: “Abdullah, your reamrs have pained me. Don’t you know that your grandfather stands no comparison with their grandfather! Do you think your grandmother can equal theirs? Has your maternal uncle the same standing as theirs? Can your maternal aunt compare with their aunts? Is your uncle of the same rank as theirs? Can your paternal aunt be a match for theirs?”
“Listen,” Went on Omar, “ their grandfather is the Messenger of Allah. Their father is Ali. Their mother is Fatima. Their grandmother is Khadija. Their maternal uncle is Abraham, the son of the Prophet (PBUH). Their maternal aunts are the daughters of the Prophet (PBUH) viz, Zainab, Ruqayyah and Ummi Kulthum. Their paternal uncle is Jafar, son of Abu Talib. Their paternal aunt is Ummi-Hani, the daughter of Abu Talib.”
