High Merits of Hazrat Imam Hussain
When it came to the fixation of stipends for the Muslims, Hassan and Husain, again, received special consideration from Omar. Those who had taken part in the battle of Badr were allowed two thousand dirhams, but those who showed outstanding valour in that battle got five thousand. Ali belonged to the latter category. Hasan and Husain also got five thousand each, although they were not even born at the time of this battle.
Once fine dresses were received from Yemen. Omar distributed them among the people. Soon people were going about in these dresses. Presently, Hassan and Husain passed by. They did not have the Yemeni dresses on. The tought made Omar very unhappy. “What a pity!” he exclaimed, “that these two boys who are responsible for giving people these fine dresses, should themselves be without them”.
Omar at once wrote to the Governor of the Yemen, asking him to send two dresses for the grandsons of the Prophet (PBUH). The order was carried out. When Omar saw the two boys clad in Yemeni dresses, he cried out, “Now I am really happy.”
When Iran was conquered, a princess, Shah Bano by name, was among the prisoners of war. She was among the prisoners of war. She was brought to Madina. The Caliph’s son expressed a desire to marry her. “How dare you make such a request?” exclaimed Omar. “She is a princess and can only be married to a prince.” Saying this, he called Husain and gave the princess to him.
